On Saturday morning, the yearly animal blessing ritual took place in the old chapel of Santo Amaro, which is part of the Historical and Museum Centre of Santo Amaro, and often referred to as the ‘The Captain’s Tower.’
Approximately 20 animals were blessed this morning, including a rabbit, in an initiative that aims to keep alive the parish’s devotion to Santo Antão, as well as symbolise the close of the region’s Christmas celebrations.
