At 7:30 am this morning, the search for the German tourist who was swept away by a wave in São Jorge continued.
Although the probabilities of finding the 36-year-old German national alive are practically non-existent, today’s search was designed to cover a greater area through the use of the Portuguese Naval ship, NRP Mondego, which currently patrols and monitors the waters of Madeira, lifeboat ISN-SR40, a drone from the Madeira Operational Command, as well as officers from the Maritime Police, the Funchal Lifeguard Station, and the Volunteer Firefighters of Santana.
From 9:30 am, the Portuguese Air Force joined the search using their search and rescue helicopter EH-101.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
