Two men were hospitalized in the early hours of Tuesday, following an altercation that occurred outside the Dreams Madeira hotel, in Caniçal.
The injured are a 30-year-old employee of the hotel unit and a 50-year-old customer.
According to the newspaper, the assaults occurred around 2 am, when the employee tried to help a couple who were accompanied by a child. The intervention was not well received by the customer, who allegedly reacted violently, assaulting the hotel worker.
The employee suffered injuries that led to his transport to the hospital. The alleged aggressor suffered some abrasions and received assistance at the scene. The Public Security Police arrived first and identified the suspect.
A police source revealed to the newspaper that the PSP was called to Dreams Madeira shortly after 2 am, due to an alleged assault by a customer on an employee of the hotel unit. The same source also said that the couple appeared to be drunk.
The two injured were assisted by the Municipal Firefighters of Machico and a team from the Portuguese Red Cross, and were later transported to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital in Funchal.
