Drug Trafficking Ring Arrested

The Judiciary Police broke up an organized drug trafficking ring in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, arresting eight suspects ranging in age from 17 to 63 years old.

The operation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department of Madeira and targeted a group with links to the mainland, two of whom reside in the Leiria area.

As part of the investigation, and following arrest warrants and house searches issued by the judicial authority, about 1.3 kilos of drugs, more than 16 thousand euros in cash, and various materials associated with the preparation, packaging, and distribution of narcotics were seized.

The authorities also seized assets suspected of constituting advantages of criminal activity, reinforcing the evidence collected throughout the investigation.

The investigation continues.
