The man suspected of killing his mother was arrested this afternoon in Água de Pena, Machico.
According to information collected by JM, the individual returned to the scene of the crime, where he allegedly tried to end his own life. This failed, and after being detained, was assisted on the spot by teams from the Municipal Firefighters of Machico and EMIR.
The man is now being transported to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, where he will receive medical care. But his life is not at risk.
The murderer has been on the run since last Monday, when his mother was found dead. Witnesses reported that the suspect was seen leaving the victim’s residence with traces of blood on his clothes.
