The Casa para Viver platform, which brings together dozens of associations, movements, and collectives in defence of the right to housing, called for a set of demonstrations in 14 cities across Portugal. The objective of these demonstrations is to demand concrete responses to the serious housing crisis that affects thousands of people.
In Funchal, the demonstration is scheduled for 11:30 on the 21st of March next to the Cathedral.
“This initiative aims to draw attention to the worsening of problems related to housing, namely the increase in rents, real estate speculation and difficulties in accessing housing for many families, young people and workers,” reads a statement.
The Regional Nucleus of the Door to Door Movement calls for the participation of all those who defend the right to housing in Madeira, in an initiative that “seeks to demand public policies that guarantee access to a decent home for all.”
