The Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA) registered two earthquakes in the early hours of this morning.
According to information provided by IPMA, the first quake, which was shallow, occurred at 04:48, registering 1.8 on the Richter scale, off the southwest coast of Ponta do Sol.
The second earthquake, with a magnitude of 1.6, was recorded at 05:12 off the southwest coast of Ribeira Brava at a depth of 27 kilometers.
