The Left Bloc (BE) has joined the struggle and will demonstrate alongside workers against the labour package on the 28th of February. As part of their fight, they spoke to workers from Horários do Funchal, explaining why they need to stand against the government’s radical labour package.
Overall, the BE considers that the proposal of the Government of the Republic is “a clear setback of the rights conquered. The PSD/CDS governments, national and regional, with the support of all parties of the radical right and the extreme right, are committed to passing new labour rules that heavily penalise workers.”
The blockists point out that the objective is to “give all power to employers and weaken workers’ organisations as much as possible as well as abuse the use of the extension of fixed-term contracts; replacement of overtime payment by fixed hours; facilitation of dismissals; widespread use of outsourcing; withdrawal of rights already received; and restrictions on the right to strike and union activity.”
Therefore, the BE asks everyone to join the demonstration on the 28th of February.
