The four men arrested last week at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo, for using false documents, were released after their court hearing.
As DIÁRIO reported, the group, composed of four European citizens, was intercepted when they tried to board a flight to Ireland, travelling outside the Schengen area.
The arrest took place as part of the inspection and control of passengers carried out by the Regional Command of the PSP of Madeira, after officers noted inconsistencies and evidence of forgery in the identification documents presented.
A statement released by the PSP clarifies that the detainees were presented to the Judicial Court of the District of Madeira – Santa Cruz, having been released after accepting the provisional suspension of the process, under the terms legally provided, on the condition that they pay a monetary amount.
The police force recalls that the use of false documents constitutes a crime and reaffirms its commitment to combat document forgery, especially in the context of border control and airport security, in conjunction with the competent authorities.
