Three Arrested at Airport

Three men attempting to travel to Dublin were arrested on Wednesday morning at Madeira Airport for using false documents.

The arrest took place at border control, on an air link departing from the Schengen area, after the documents presented raised concerns with the authorities. After analysis, the Public Security Police (PSP) confirmed that these were false documents, and the arrest was ordered.

A spokesman for the PSP’s Madeira Regional Command, Tiago Miranda, confirmed the arrest of three individuals for “using false travel documents.”

According to the official, it was a group of four European men, bound for Ireland. The fourth passenger was also escorted to the Border Police Station and asked to present his documents.

The three detainees appeared before magistrates of the Santa Cruz Judicial Court.
