Two Flower Festival Parades

The Allegorical Flower Parade, the highlight of the Flower Festival, an event promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture, will now be held on two Sundays starting this year.

According to the Secretary for Tourism’s office, the event is set for May 3rd and 17th. This decision is part of the UPGRADE Programme, which aims to improve visitor experience, honour the procession and its participants, and provide better conditions for the public to watch.

“The amendment was made in response to the parade’s growing size, which often runs long due to the large number of groups and extras. While the public shows great enthusiasm along the route, some spectators – especially those in the stands or standing- have, at times, left before the parade ends. This detracts from the event’s spirit and the hard work of the groups, who spend months rehearsing, investing in resources, creating costumes, and putting in immense dedication. The new format aims to ensure both spectators and participants enjoy a truly magical experience.”
