Razor Attack By Hotel School Student

A student at the School of Hospitality and Tourism in Madeira was immediately suspended after threatening a colleague with a razor inside a classroom on Monday morning.

While speaking to DIÁRIO, Fernando Figueiredo, the Director of the educational establishment, confirmed the occurrence, explaining that both the aggressor and the victim are approximately 20 years old and attend a Level 5 course. “It happened between one class and another. They were not secondary students; they are level 5 students; they are all adults,” he clarified.

According to the official, for reasons that are not yet fully known, one of the students threatened his colleague with a razor. Fernando Figueiredo explained that, as soon as he became aware of the situation, he went to the classroom to question the young man and ask him to hand over the weapon.

After the initial investigation of the facts, the student was suspended.

The young man was also sent to a room, where he was monitored by the Board and the institution’s psychologist. Fernando Figueiredo reiterated that this is an “inadmissible” situation and said that internal steps are underway to establish the facts, including the hearing of witnesses and the examination of officials.

The director also confirmed that the Public Security Police (PSP) are aware of the situation.
