The Madeira Regional Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) is warning about the dangers of arranging meetings through the internet or social networks, emphasising that such encounters call for extra caution.
Through a post on social networks, the PSP believes that an apparently innocent conversation can hide real risks. These include: insistence, the request for secrecy, or the suggestion of isolated locations are all warning signs that should not be ignored.
In this sense, they give a series of recommendations:
1. Avoid meeting in isolated places or late at night,
2. Always prefer public and busy spaces,
3. Inform someone you trust about where you are going and who you are going to meet,
4. Finally, never share personal or financial data.
Always trust your instinct and put your safety first. If a contact feels suspicious or dangerous, contact the authorities immediately, the PSP concludes.
