The Madeira Regional Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) issued a statement that the Weapons and Explosives Nucleus, within the scope of Operation “Police always present – Safe parties 2025-2026,” seized about 80 kilos of fireworks, in gross weight, in a commercial establishment of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
“The offender, despite being duly authorised to sell pyrotechnic material, had in storage a quantity much higher than allowed by law, which would be 10 (ten) kilos in gross weight,” states the PSP.
In the note, the Regional Command of Madeira takes the opportunity to inform that a citizen was witnessed by the Police circulating on the Expressway while firing fireworks from the roof of their car. This incident will be the subject of administrative proceedings for the various infractions committed, in terms of road legislation and pyrotechnics. This incident, which was recorded on video and shared on various social media platforms, created a high-risk situation for road safety and infrastructure.
The Public Security Police (PSP) is urging everyone to use fireworks responsibly, reminding people of the serious dangers and lasting consequences that can come from using them incorrectly. Not long ago, an elderly man was injured after several youths threw a firework at him.
