On the 5th of January, the auditorium at the Municipal Garden of Funchal will once again welcome the show ‘Let’s Sing the Kings’, organised by the Association of People’s Houses of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ACAPORAMA).

As part of the Christmas and New Year’s Eve Festivities programme, the show will start at 18:30, beginning with a street parade from Praça do Povo towards the auditorium. This year’s edition will have the participation of the Casa do Povo da Tabua, the Casa do Povo da Ponta Delgada, the Casa do Povo de Gaula, the Casa do Povo da Ponta do Sol, the Casa do Povo de Santa Cruz, the Casa do Povo de São Roque do Faial, the Casa do Povo da Serra de Água, the Casa do Povo de São Martinho and the Casa do Povo da Água de Pena.

As stated by the organisation, the various groups will present the experiences, uses and customs of the respective localities, through singing and playing, integrating a repertoire that constitutes a significant part of the intangible cultural heritage of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

The event has the support of the Secretariat of the Regional Directorate of Tourism, Environment, and Culture, as well as the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries, through the Regional Directorate for Agriculture and Rural Development and the Funchal City Council (CMF).

The singing will officially start at 19:00, while Bolo-Rei and Ginja from Curral das Freiras will be distributed to spectators.
