A 70-year-old foreign national was injured today (Tuesday), following a firework incident which occurred on Avenida do Mar e das Comunidades Madeirenses.
According to police and hospital sources, the man was “presumably hit” in the eye region by a pyrotechnic item, allegedly thrown by a group of young people.
With facial injuries, the man was assisted on the spot by a pre-hospital emergency team from the Portuguese Red Cross and then referred to the emergency department of the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
A patrol of the Public Security Police (PSP) was also sent to the scene of the occurrence to identify the perpetrators.
