TAP – Venezuela License Revoked

The PS, PSD, and JPP presented protest votes over the decision by the government of Nicolás Maduro to revoke TAP’s flight licenses to Venezuela.

Paulo Cafôfo presented the PS protest vote, which also calls for the intervention of the Portuguese Government.

Mariusky Spínola, from the JPP, highlights the fact that this measure takes place during a festive season when families gather, and many emigrants visit their homeland.

Carlos Fernandes protests at the “retaliation” of the Caracas regime that affects the Portuguese living in Venezuela. Civil aviation, said the deputy, cannot be used as a “political weapon.” While Sara Madalena considers TAP’s decision to suspend flights to be the right one, for safety reasons, and protests against the decision to revoke TAP’s license.

Chega’s Miguel Castro also affirmed his protest vote and expressed solidarity with the affected families and called on the governments of Lisbon and Madeira to negotiate, “not with the unrecognized Maduro regime,” but with the United States, which has the diplomatic power to intervene.

Gonçalo Maia Camelo agrees with the votes but believes they are merely symbolic, as the Maduro regime has already proven it lacks a clear strategy beyond fostering chaos and confusion.
