Police Warn of AI Fraud

The Public Security Police (PSP) warned this morning, through a publication on their social networks, of the risks of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Their post shows a doctored image of a damaged PSP car, which only took a few minutes to doctor and post as a false ‘occurrence.’ “Exactly the kind of manipulation that generates comments, alarmism, and misinformation, cautioned a PSP spokesperson.”

As technology advances, so do the risks tied to creating and sharing false content. To address this, the PSP has introduced a set of community guidelines.

  • Always confirm the source of the information, especially before sharing it.
  • Be wary of alarmist or sensationalist content, as they are the most used to deceive.
  • Take a good look at the image; shadows, reflections, and incoherent details can indicate manipulation.
  • Seek confirmation from official sources or credible media outlets.
  • Question isolated screenshots and messages without context.
  • Avoid sharing something just because it “feels urgent.” Urgency is a common technique for deception.
  • Report suspicious posts to help stop misinformation.
