Car Found in Sea

A car was found partially submerged in the sea, in Praia Formosa, in the early hours of this morning.

According to a source from the Funchal Fire Department, they were called to the scene at 02:24 after a car’s brakes failed, and the vehicle ended up careening down the ramp next to the old Shell building.

By the time emergency services arrived at the scene, no occupants were found inside the vehicle. At the time, no other information was available.

The removal of the vehicle was carried out with the support of a towing company. The incident resulted in significant material damage to the vehicle.

Later on, a local newspaper advised its readers that a 20-year-old man had been in the car when it entered the water, but luckily, he was able to escape and was unharmed.

The car was finally removed from the water at 06:00.
