The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, presented Cristiano Ronaldo with the golden key to the White House.
In the most recent photographs released by the US Government, it is possible to see the Portuguese player, his girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez, and Donald Trump meeting in the Oval Office, in the private meeting that preceded the gala dinner, held yesterday, in honour of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Bin Salman.
According to a report by the New York Post, this special object was personally designed by President Trump himself, which he uses as a gift to very special guests.
In May of this year, Donald Trump offered the same golden key to Elon Musk, saying that it is awarded to “very special people.”
Also, in September 2020, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was presented with the same object by Donald Trump. “This was a special gesture of affection offered by me and the first lady to the Prime Minister and first lady of Israel. And it’s a key. We call it ‘key to the White House’ and it is a key to our country and our hearts,” he said at the time.
President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, said that this act of ‘friendship’ reinforces the player’s role as a ‘great ambassador’ for Madeira.
In addition to Cristiano Ronaldo, gala dinner guests at the White House included Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, and Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, among other personalities.
However, there has been a backlash against Ronaldo attending this event. In fact, very few people have written in support of Ronaldo’s attendance.
