The captaincy of the Port of Funchal today issued a severe weather warning for the coastline of the archipelago of Madeira due to wind forecasts. Gusts can reach between 51 and 62 kilometers from any direction.
“It is recommended that the owners and shipowners of vessels take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety,” says the regional maritime authority in the warning.
In force are warnings released by the captaincy for strong winds and sea agitation until 06:00 on Wednesday.
The warnings are based on the forecasts of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), which placed the north and south coasts and the island of Porto Santo under a yellow warning (the second on a scale of four) for strong sea agitation.
Due to sea conditions, please exercise caution while walking along coastal paths and areas close to the sea.
