The Funchal City Council informs that, within the scope of the municipal contract called “Implementation of mobility and traffic calming measures 2024/2025”, it is necessary to make some temporary changes to road traffic during October and November.
The changes are:
FROM 14.10.2025 (TUESDAY) TO 14.11.2025 (FRIDAY)
Road traffic at the junction between Avenida Arriaga, Rua João Tavira, and Rua do Aljube will be interrupted due to the elevation of the pedestrian crossing and pavement repairs.
Traffic on Avenida Arriaga, between Avenida Zarco and Rua João Tavira, will flow in both directions. Entry and exit will be through Avenida Zarco, providing access to motorcycle parking, loading and unloading zones, and the taxi rank.
Traffic on Rua do Aljube, between Rua João Tavira and Rua 5 de Outubro, will flow in both directions. Access will be through Rua 5 de Outubro, exclusively for loading and unloading, from 08:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and Saturdays.
FROM 15.10.2025 (WEDNESDAY) TO 14.11.2025 (FRIDAY)
Road traffic is interrupted in both U-turns on Avenida Arriaga, next to the “Cabana do Jardim” establishment, to raise the pavement.
In the south-north direction, drivers will be able to circulate through Rua Conselheiro José Silvestre Ribeiro, Avenida do Mar e das Comunidades Madeirenses, Túnel Dr. Sá Carneiro, Rotunda do Plaza Madeira, and Rua Dr. Brito Câmara, towards Rotunda do Infante.
The parking of vehicles in the intervention area and its immediate surroundings is expressly prohibited.
