A professional fisherman was confronted with a macabre discovery yesterday while preparing to sail off the bay of Porto d’Abra, in Ponta de São Lourenço, in Caniçal.
Emanuel Sousa found two lifeless cats floating in the sea, without it being possible to identify the causes of death immediately. What impressed him most was the fact that the animals were together, raising the suspicion that they had been thrown into the sea at the same time and were already dead.
“There is premeditation here. Someone wickedly did this, and I can’t understand why?” Lamented the fisherman, in statements to JM.
This case has shocked the local community, which demands respect for animals and the condemnation of acts they classify as cowardly and inhumane.
