Badly Behaved Tourists

A 34-year-old tourist caused chaos this afternoon, in a hotel located on Avenida do Infante, Funchal, with his out-of-control behaviour.

The man, very naked stood on his balcony and threw empty bottles and furniture into the street below him. Later, a hospital source said that the man had been drinking heavily while on medication.

The Public Security Police (PSP) was called to the scene and immediately took control of the situation.

The Portuguese Red Cross was also called to assist, as the hotel guest, showed signs of drug poisoning aggravated by alcohol.

Accompanied by the authorities, the man was immediately admitted into A & E at Dr. Nélio Mendonça hospital.

Another incident occurred this morning.  It was another case of improper camping, this time under the promenade of Praia Formosa.

According to a resident, a tent was set up at the site, where two people spent the night; they were tourists, she said.

The situation, which captured the attention of passers-by, aroused some displeasure. “How long are we going to have to deal with this?” Queried those questioned.
