A 45-year-old man wanted in Venezuela for forgery was arrested in Ribeira Brava.
The arrest took place yesterday by the Judicial Police (PJ), who had an international arrest warrant (MDI) for the individual, at the request of the Venezuelan judicial authorities, for falsification of public documents.
At issue is a property whose ownership had been illegally acquired by his father in 2002.
According to the National Directorate of the PJ, at the end of 2004, following the death of his father, the suspect falsified documents to become the “legitimate” owner of the property, which he later sold.
The rightful owner naturally complained to the competent authorities.
For this crime, the detainee may incur a maximum prison sentence of 25 years.
