As part of the contract ‘Implementation of mobility and traffic calming measures 2024/2025,’ the Funchal City Council has already created two raised pedestrian speed bumps on Estrada Comandante Camacho de Freitas, in the segment between Courelas and Caminho de Santo Amaro. It will build 12 new raised pedestrian crossings, aiming to reduce speed, create pedestrian visibility and driver awareness in sensitive areas of the city.
According to the CMF, the interventions will take place between the 28th of July and the 12th of August. The work will take 12 days to complete, with one new crossing being installed per day.
Road traffic will be temporarily interrupted between 08:00 am and 18:00 at each site, except for Estrada da Boa Nova, where circulation will only be restricted. In all situations, alternative routes and local access will be ensured.
