A man lost control at Nico’s Burger and turned the restaurant into a horror scene. Transforming the restaurant, located in the Marina Shopping, in Funchal, into a scene of terror and confusion. A company source contacted JM, stating that everything happened just after midnight when the individual arrived at the burger counter accompanied by his wife.
Without warning, the man began to insult and racially abuse an African employee who attempted to serve him. The man threatened the employee both verbally and physically. Understandably, the man refused to serve his aggressor, and this is when the customer went out of control.
Before being subdued, the man managed to damage the door to the restaurant and was caught by police vandalising the restaurant. Refusing to cooperate with the police, who arrived at 00:30, the man became increasingly violent, so much so that the police had to subdue the 43-year-old man through the use of pepper spray and a taser gun.
The detainee was incoherent and visibly disoriented, and was taken to hospital, and remained under observation. The employee was also taken to hospital for treatment.
After further police investigations, it was possible to determine that the suspect had previously assaulted a 34-year-old restaurant employee of foreign nationality. The victim filed a “complaint for the crime of offences to physical integrity.”
