Madeiran’s Flee Israel

Lino Nunes, aged 30 and a native of Caniçal, lives in “great fear” in Haifa, a port city in northern Israel, which has been repeatedly bombed in recent days by Iran.  After sharing photos with JM, he says that he lives in perpetual torment as he and his family have no shelter, and have to run for cover when the sirens go off. After living in Israel for eight years, he and his family are now desperate to return to Madeira.

Montana Gouveia, aged 18, has already returned to her grandparents’ home in Arco da Calheta after a long repatriation trip.   She made the journey to Madeira by catching a bus to Egypt, then boarding a Royal Air Force plane to Cyprus.  Her grandparents then paid her fare to Lisbon and then to Madeira.
