We Don’t Give In To Blackmail

“The Regional Government states that it is available to negotiate with the unions, but warns that the negotiations must take into account the financial capacities of the companies, both private and public.” Confirmed Miguel Albuquerque to reporters when asked about the 48-hour bus strike scheduled for the end of June by the National Union of Drivers and Other Workers (SNMOT), affecting public passenger transport.

The President of Madeira expressed his regret that the bus company also called a strike on the eve of the regional elections, further emphasising that the Government of Madeira will not be blackmailed by unions.

“Either the unions sit down with us and bring serious and credible proposals to the table, or they back down.  If they think they can do the same as what is happening on the continent, they are wrong.”

The bus drivers are asking to have their salaries increased by 30 euros a month.
