The Porto Santo Line (PSL) has announced that from tomorrow, its ship, Lobo Marinho’ will resume its regular service without any speed limitations.
The installation of the new turbine was completed today, and all tests show that the new turbine has brought the ship back to its original performance records.
In a statement, PSL administrator, Carlos Santos added:
“Everything went as expected. From the first moment the turbine malfunctioned, we wanted to ensure safe travel while operating an essential service.”
After the arrival of all the necessary parts, as well as the technical team hired to carry out the work, the mechanical work began yesterday, shortly after the arrival of the ship at the port of Funchal, taking advantage of today, when the PSL remains in port to make all the necessary corrections.
The work plan outlined by the company took place on time. The Porto Santo Line had the technical support of ABB, currently called Accelleron (a company created in 1883 with the merger of the Swedish ASEA and BBC Switzerland, and a world specialist in ship technology and machinery. The company employs 110 thousand people.
“The Porto team Santo Line and the external ABB team worked in 2 shifts, the first during the night and the second from 8 am,” explained Carlos Santos.
“The installation of the new turbine was completed at 11:50, and tests began soon after, ending at 13:45.
Please note due to high demand over Easter, the PSL will be operating a double service on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
