Madeira has been, in recent days, at the centre of a misunderstanding created by the director of the newspaper ‘Correio dos Açores,’ Natalino Viveiros, who, in an editorial, wrongly attributed to the national leader of the PS the idea that, after the last elections in Madeira, this “archipelago should be sold to the US.”
Portuguese politician, Pedro Nuno Santos felt the need to come forward and state that he had never made “such nonsensical statements” and that they were nothing more than content inserted in the ‘Public Enemy,’ a humorous Expresso supplement.
Yesterday, Natalino Viveiros himself said that the selling of the island was pure nonsense.
