Civil Protection Plan Available Online

The Funchal City Council (CMF), through the Municipal Civil Protection Service, confirms that the Funchal Municipal Civil Protection Emergency Plan (PMEPCF), has been revised and has been in force since the 7th of March 2025.

“This document is essential to ensure an organised and effective response in emergency situations, ensuring the protection of people, property, and the environment.”

It should be noted that the civil protection emergency plans define the guidelines for the action of the various bodies and services involved in civil protection operations. Its activation allows the rapid mobilisation of necessary resources, promoting effectiveness and efficiency in response to major accidents or disasters. In addition, they aim at the short-term recovery of affected areas, thus minimising negative impacts.

“The participation and knowledge of the population are fundamental for the success of this plan. It is therefore essential that all citizens are informed about the measures envisaged and the actions to be taken in the event of an emergency. The plan includes information on the means of warning the population, the instructions to follow, and the evacuation procedures, if necessary,” warns the CMF.

“Everyone’s safety depends on proper preparation and collaboration between authorities and the community. We reinforce the importance of each citizen knowing the PMEPCF and following the recommendations of the competent authorities.”
