Depression Martin on Its Way

The effects of Depression Martin will be felt from today, the 18th of March until Thursday the 20th.

According to the IPMA, heavy precipitation is expected from today, with the wind blowing from the southwest, turning to the west from tomorrow morning.  Gusts are expected to reach 80 to 90 km/h and 110 to 120 km/h in the mountainous regions.

The Captaincy of the Port of Funchal has also updated the warning of strong sea waves for the archipelago, which should be in force until 06:00 am tomorrow, as waves on the south coast are estimated to reach a maximum height of 4 to 5 metres, while 5 to 6 metre waves are expected on the north coast.

Due to the meteorological situation, yellow rain warnings and orange warnings for wind and rain have been issued.
