The President of the Regional Government reacted today after Regional Secretaries Rogério Gouveia, Pedro Ramos, and Pedro Fino and the Secretary General of the PSD-M, José Prada, were interviewed by the Judiciary Police in the context of the ‘Ab Initio’ process, saying that “no one has been or is accused or convicted of anything.”
Miguel Albuquerque assured that he maintains confidence in the secretaries, stressing that this in no way weakens the Government, not least because these “are people who are good for our society.”
The President of the Regional Government also clarified that Rogério Gouveia, Pedro Ramos, and Pedro Fino are not part of the PSD-M list for the next regional legislative elections, as Regional Secretaries are not placed on the candidate lists.
“It has nothing to do with one thing or the other. Everyone has already understood what is happening in Madeira: they are launching complaints and if the system continues like this. Within a week everyone who serves in public office will be accused of something.”
Albuquerque also mentioned this whole situation would only weaken the party if using the Judiciary process to undermine government had worked. People are not stupid, we all know each other and we all know who is behind this!”
“Often those who accuse others are the ones to blame.” Criticised Miguel Albuquerque, stating that other parties are playing dangerous games with the development of Madeira. The investigation process will continue to take place and only then an outcome be determined.
In a separate interview, the Regional Secretary for Equipment and Infrastructures says he has a “clear conscience,” after being interviewed by the authorities. Pedro Fino was made a defendant in this process, and his parliamentary immunity was lifted on the 14th of November 2024.
The Ab Initio investigation will continue.
