21st Century Underwater Surveillance

Surveillance of Portuguese territorial space will depend on a “new Navy, which will be more modern, holistic, and technologically advanced.  Furthermore, it will include the use of drones and unmanned submarines.

Before moving on from his post of Commander of the Madeira Maritime Zone, Captain Rui Teixeira, said that he believes that new technologies will offer a promising future, enforce the Navy’s capabilities, and create conditions to ensure that seabed cables are protected.

Captain Rui Teixeira will be succeeded by Captain Bruno Teles.
