Man Found Floating in Sea

The Porto Moniz Lifeguard Station was activated this afternoon after a 30-year-old man was found floating in the sea next to the Porto Moniz islet. Luckily, a local man dived in to rescue him.

Upon arrival at the scene, the SANAS 105 team rescued both individuals and began basic life support manoeuvres on board, maintaining assistance until returning to port. Once at the pier, the crew used an automatic external defibrillator (AED) while waiting for the arrival of the ambulance from the Volunteer Firefighters of São Vicente and Porto Moniz.

The victim was transported to the Porto Moniz Health Centre, where medical teams continued resuscitation procedures.

Luckily, the man was resuscitated, thanks to the prompt action of his rescuer and the emergency services.
