Return of the Pre-paid Bus Ticket

As part of the transition to the new integrated ticketing system of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, which began on the 1st of July 2024, and considering the guidelines of the Regional Authority – Institute for Mobility and Transport, Horários do Funchal (HF) will resume it’s pre-paid service for all trips on their urban network.

The new ruling will allow customers to continue to use old HF passes and tickets that have pre-purchased trips from the old ticket. However, the company says that this process will only be available until the 31st of March and all tickets have to be used by the 31st of May.

Pre-paid to-ups are only available at Payshop agents (from 31st of January until the 31st of  March).

“Please note that it is not possible to purchase additional trips at HF service counters or at HF automatic machines. The purchase of pre-purchased tickets is made at Payshop agents, but limited to existing stock,” so HF appeals to customers to keep their tickets or use an old bus pass to load additional fares.
