Continente stores in the Autonomous Region of Madeira raised a total of €119,497 during their Missão Continente’s Christmas campaign, titled ‘When we help, we all receive more,’ which was intended to support people and animals in situations of helplessness, whether psychological, financial, social or nutrition.
The stores in the Autonomous Region of Madeira are delivering the donations collected to 29 local institutions, supported by Missão Continente. Across Portugal, customers have raised more than €1.5 million, to support more than 750 institutions nationwide, which represent more than 100 thousand beneficiaries across the country.
The campaign, which ran from the 1st of November to the 25th of December 2024 throughout all their stores, created a movement to support communities in Portugal and gave customers the opportunity to select the cause they most admire, knowing that they were having a direct impact on their own community. Customers could also choose to contribute from Continente Online or the Continente Card application, using Continente Pay. With these two payment methods, the total amount raised was shared among all institutions.
All the institutions selected by Missão Continente for the project have a connection to the brand, as they benefit from the donations provided by Continente allowing them to develop their work in supporting people in vulnerable situations in a transversal way, from food support, to the provision of health care to seniors, to the development of educational activities with children and young people and to support animal welfare.
Through more than 750 social institutions, in all, about 80 thousand people and 20 thousand animals are supported by the campaign.
Missão Continente is Continente’s social responsibility platform, has been operating for more than 20 years in the areas of food, people and planet, and aims to contribute to a more sustainable future.
All the institutions were evaluated and scrutinized by ENTRAJUDA, to ensure that support reaches where it is needed.
