A 42-year-old man accused of robbing a bank branch of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, on the 12th of January last year, in Câmara de Lobos, was sentenced to a six-year prison sentence today.
This afternoon, the Judicial Court of the District of Madeira acquitted the defendant of the three crimes of kidnapping of which he had been accused, but sentenced him for aggravated robbery to a six-year prison term, in addition to the payment of compensation to the plaintiffs.
The defendant had already confessed to the crime but denied any premeditation.
