Fires broke out after the end-of-year fireworks with one of the firing stations in in São Gonçalo exploding.
A police source reports that the episode occurred after a firework container allegedly overturned due to the vibrations of the devices used and ended up damaging nearby homes and vehicles.
Fires were also reported to have raged on a hillside in São Gonçalo. All in all, several fires were quickly put out by on-site firefighters.
This is nothing unusual as the most critical time is during and immediately after the fireworks have been fired.
