We Need A Drone Squadron

“I have long been revealing in public speeches that this same aerodrome (Porto Santo) will have a future squadron of drones with which the Portuguese State will decide to provide to our Armed Forces,” said Ireneu Barreto, at the ceremony of the 15th anniversary of AM3, in Porto Santo.

“As I have already seen an expert in geostrategy, Porto Santo is our aircraft carrier planted in the middle of the Atlantic, occupying a decisive centrality in the current gloomy circumstances, which require us to take greater care with National Defence,” reported the representative of the Republic, adding that, therefore, “it would be great, to exercise from here, quickly and effectively, the control and surveillance over our exclusive economic zone and the continental shelf that belongs to us, in addition to that it would also be a way to bring more development and investment to Porto Santo, contributing to the reduction of its seasonality.”
