Every year, the scene repeats itself. The Poinsettas planted in mid-November are stolen bit by bit, night after night in Santa Cruz.
This morning, workers were met with empty containers and confided in JM reporters, saying that it “hurts when your hard work, thought and care is so abused, especially, when you are greeted with theft and destruction.”
Last year, “in one night alone, they took seven plants,” revealed a Santa Cruz worker, “there is no common sense or respect.”
Last year reindeer were found with broken legs as people had sat on them. And in Caniço, there was outrage when Father Christmas’s chair was stolen in the middle of the night. However, it was returned two days later which was probably just as well, as people were so incensed that they were threatening to lynch the culprit(s) if they were found.
