Early this evening the fish market in the Mercado dos Lavradores became a colourful and lively venue for the opening Christmas concert ‘The Magic of Christmas at the Market.’
Classics such as The Greatest Showman, Beauty and the Beast, All I Want for Christmas, and many others were performed by a variety of singers, including the very popular Vânia Fernandes, a theatre group and dancers all accompanied by the Empress Sissi Orchestra.
The music was brilliant and a great time was had by all.
For those who missed this opportunity, there will be another on the 1st of December at the Natural History Museum of Funchal.
The event starts at 18:00 in the central hall of the São Pedro Palace, by the Sissi Cultural and Artistic Association, with the participation of the illustrious Madeiran singers Vânia Fernandes, Cláudia Sousa, Maria Ferreira, and Paulo Soares, accompanied by pianist Anikó Harangion.
Since this concert takes place on a Sunday, the entire repertoire has been designed with families in mind. So as well as Christmas songs there will be classics from great Disney musicals such as Beauty and the Beast and Frozen.
