In the statement after the PSD-M regional political commission, Miguel Albuquerque told journalists that he expects common sense from the opposition in the motion of censure filed by Chega. “We call on the parties to assume a sense of responsibility,” he said, explaining that the PSD “will not hand over power.”
“This motion of censure makes a relentless attack on the Socialist Party,” he said, saying that the PS-M is more attacked in this motion than the PSD-M itself. “The PSD-M is prepared for any scenario, including elections.”
On whether he had already spoken to the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, the Madeiran leader said yes, but did not answer directly, clarifying only, that the Azores conference had to be cancelled.
As for the internal currents of the party against his own, Albuquerque admits that not everyone is with him, but that he is not aware of any moment of the government having requested a willingness to leave.
