Of the 85.3 of rain per square metre (mm) recorded this Sunday up until noon at Chão do Areeiro weather station, 62.9 mm of rain fell, reaching red-level weather warnings in the 6 hours of heaviest precipitation (between 02:51 and 08:50 hours).
Up until 1:00 11 of the 20 stations of the IPMA network in the Madeira Archipelago (18 in Madeira Island, Porto Santo and Selvagens) recorded corresponding amounts of precipitation to 19 weather warnings, 12 of which are consistent with a yellow warning (9 for the 1h interval, 3 for 6h interval), 6 orange warnings (2/1h, 4/6h), and 1, extreme (red) weather warning (6 am) in Chão do Areeiro. The weather station at Monte also recorded similar values.
Areas registering high levels of rainfall were: Prazeres (23.6 mm/1h and 47.9 mm/6h); Monte (21.6 mm/1h and 59.3 mm/6h); Pico do Areeiro (55.0 mm/6h); Pico Alto (50.0 mm/6h).
Yellow alerts were in place for: Santa Cruz/Airport (14.9 mm/1h and 39.0 mm/6h); Funchal/Observatory (11.9 mm/1h and 34.2 mm/6h); Ponta do Sol/Lugar do Baixo (15.9 mm/1h and 30.8 mm/6h), Cancela/SRPC (11.9 mm/1h); Quinta Grande (10.7 mm/1h); Ponta do Pargo (12.8 mm/1h), Pico do Areeiro (15.2 mm/1h), Chão do Areeiro (20.4 mm/1h); Pico Alto (16.4 mm/1h).
