The body of a missing man was found floating in the sea off Praia do Vigário, Câmara de Lobos on Sunday.
According to the Commander of the National Maritime Authority and the Maritime Police, Rui Manuel Teixeira, the body was collected by the Forensic Divers Group (GMF) of the Maritime Police, having been transported to Pier 8 of the port of Funchal with the help of the vessel and crew of the Funchal Lifeguard station.
According to a police source, the victim had been reported missing late Saturday afternoon, after having spent time with a friend on the beach. Some eyewitnesses revealed to authorities that they saw the two individuals together the day before and that both went their separate ways.
Meanwhile, the PSP was looking for the man after being alerted to his disappearance.
The Maritime Police took care of the occurrence and the Judicial Police are investigating the causes of death and disappearance of the man.
