Orange Heat Alert in Place

The Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA), has placed the mountainous regions and the south coast of Madeira under an orange warning from 00:00 on Friday until 18:00 on Saturday, due to the hot weather.

Previously, these regions had already been placed under yellow warning due to the “persistence of high values of the maximum temperature.”

Today, the archipelago is already under a yellow warning due to hot weather, a situation that lasts until 18:00 on Saturday on the north coast of Madeira and Porto Santo. On the south coast and mountainous regions, the yellow warning is in force until 23:59 on Thursday, then becoming an orange warning until 18:00 on Saturday.

According to IPMA forecasts, the temperature is expected to be around 31 degrees on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Funchal.
