The Madeira Regional Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) informs that its Inactivation and Explosive Devices Teams (EIEEXS) carried out an emergency intervention at a private residence, in the area of the municipality of Funchal, following an explosive material alert.
The owner of the residence signaled the presence of an old grenade, for military use, inside the property, having activated the presence of the PSP.
A PSP EIEEXS team was quickly dispatched to the residential area, taking all necessary measures to safeguard the integrity of those at the site and immediate vicinity.
The PSP isolated the perimeter, and EIEEXS officers conducted a technical analysis and subsequent collection of the artifact, according to the established security protocols. It was then transported to the police facilities, where it will undergo forensic examination and be formally identified.
