GESBA Invests in Monorail

GESBA management was in the parish of Madalena do Mar, where they visited part of the work that will increase the existing monorail for transporting bananas by 220 metres. Once completed the infrastructure will measure 670 metres.

According to a statement from the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Environment, the two administrators of the public company, Aurélia Sena and Nuno Barros were with several producers who will benefit from the new monorail extension. Especially as it will help farmers cope with the steep terrain of Ponta do Sol.

During this visit, GESBA was focused on training. About four dozen technicians and producers attended the new banana production techniques training with Victor Galán, who is recognised worldwide within the fruit growing sector, especially banana, mango, and lychee.

At the end of the session, Aurélia Sena, thanked Victor Galán for travelling to Madeira, teaching new and different techniques to the island’s farmers, and being willing to discuss differing issues within the banana growing sector.

This training is the result of the reorganisation of the banana sector, which involves greater training of all those who are linked to one of Madeira’s main agricultural productions, which brings together about 2900 producers.
