The Judiciary Police (PJ) announced today that it has dismantled a structure that created thousands of “hello father, hello mother” computer scams and that they have arrested a man suspected of qualified fraud, criminal association, and money laundering.
In a statement, the PJ explained that following a complaint, received in January, the Criminal Investigation Department of Leiria took steps that allowed them “to identify coincidences and attach seven more investigations, noting the massive use of untraceable mobile phone numbers, from national operators, which triggered alerts and forced the use of special means of obtaining evidence.”
